The 50

I really like all of the 50 Things Every Creative Should Know. Most of them can even be applied to everyday life, or other professions. My favorites are as follows:

1. You are not the first. I know for a fact that this is completely true. Sometimes people let this fact get in the way of completing a project because they have the "oh it's already been done before" attitude. Just because something's been done doesn't mean you shouldn't try it.

5. Starting anything requires energy. Anything that's worth having takes time and energy. People can also tell if you don't put in that time and energy. I would also never feel satisfied with my own work if I knew I didn't put in the energy to make it what I want.

7. Have a positive self-image. If I feel good about myself, and I'm confident, I can tell that other people are more likely to be confident in me too. Being confident also just gives me a good feeling inside.

13. Time is precious: Get to the point. Time is one of those weird things we don't have a lot of and I don't want to waste. Getting to the point benefits both me and whoever I'm talking to, because I'm not wasting my time or theirs.

19. Be patient. It's one of the hardest things, but it really ends up being worth it to be patient. In the end you will have a better outcome than if you weren't patient.

20. Ask questions. Asking questions helps me know something faster, most of the time. Why wait around wondering when you can just ask?

22. Seek criticism, not praise. Criticism can be really hard to take, but different people have different perspectives and can point out what works and what doesn't. As long as they have a reason that's legitimate, it's a good idea to listen.

26. Network. It's always good to know, and be friends with, as many people as possible. You never know what kind of opportunities someone could give you that you wouldn't have otherwise.

34. Embrace limitations. If there were no limitations, we wouldn't be forced to find a way around them. The most creative ideas come from breaking through limitations.

46. Take responsibility for failure. Whenever I take responcebility for something I've done, even when it's a complete failure, or I did something wrong, people tend to respect me more.

50. Don't take yourself too seriously. I feel like it's all about your attitude, which includes your attitude about yourself. When people take themselves too seriously I can't take them seriously

Who is this girl Ashley?

I'm Ashley Suarino, from Atlanta, Georgia. I lived in Atlanta my whole life before deciding that I needed a change and came here to Tampa for college. I'm an Advertising and Public Relations major with a minor in Art. I'm really excited about this class because I like being creative, but I've never gotten a good chance to explore being creative with digital art.  I expect to learn how to do a lot which I hope to use in my art in the future.
